RECYCLED TIMBER
Timber was recycled from warehouses, derelict buildings and factories. Now timber is recycled from power poles, bridges and wharves, which has had a life outside and is predominately Grey Ironbark and Spotted Gum with more imperfections…
These timbers are well seasoned but if milled the moisture content from the centre to the outer edges varies quite considerably. After the timber is cut it is air dried and then put in a kiln so the moisture equalizing process takes place before the timber is re-milled.
Air Seasoned / Kiln Dried to better than 18% MC for exterior timber, 11% MC Internal timber
All timber supplied by Nash Timbers will be remilled from recycled/ salvaged timbers & such, therefor it may contain nail holes & other features consistent with this type of timber
Dressed all round to finish sizes nominated / Pencil Round / Rough Sawn/ T & G and End Matched
All milling & timber grading in accordance with Australian Standards.
Feature post and beams (As is, ground and wire brushed or Dressed All Round)
Flooring, Staircase material, bench top material, Weatherboard and Lining Board
Colour
Colour of the timber will be determined by the species, natural variations can and do occur. Timber is a natural product providing a broad range of colour variations across the 3 main spectrums of creams, browns and reds. When choosing timber, Nash Timbers encourage our client’s to see the true colour variation in each species. If requiring a single species an extra cost is added.
Sizes and Lengths
Nominal Sizes start from 250mm x 250mm, range in length from 2 to 14mts
Chain of Custody
The timbers provided by Nash Timbers to our customers are guaranteed to be from a single source. The power/transmission poles that are received by the mill have been decommissioned and deemed unserviceable by our supplier for their needs
Most poles have an identification tag denoting the characteristics of the pole including rated strength of the pole, length of the pole when in service, species and the supplier of the pole.
Maintenance program for Recycled Timber
Due to the timber already having a life outside, a maintenance program must be put into place.
A good penetrating oil or protective coating must be applied when installed.
Then regularly maintained when timber dries out and cracks.
